WHO IS JUDGE PARGA?

Judge Sandra Parga has served as an Associate Judge in Kane County since 2017, serving in the Juvenile Justice court for the last 3 years. Judge Parga is the first Latina judge in Kane County's history, and she is bilingual. She serves as a member of the Language Access Committee for Kane County courts, and was the lead author of the Kane County courts Zoom manual, which was adopted by other counties.

Prior to being appointed judge, Sandra practiced civil, criminal, and family law for 23 years. She frequently volunteered her time and expertise, including 7 years at Prairie State Legal Services' Spanish clinic. She received the Kane County Pro Bono Attorney Award in 2013.

Sandra is active at St. Patrick’s Parish, and volunteers with organizations such as Fox Valley Literacy and Lazarus House, focusing on continued adult education and combatting homelessness. She is a 30-year resident of St. Charles, where she raised her 4 children with her husband.

Upon completing her law degree at Cornell University, Sandra returned to Illinois to embark on her legal career as a staff attorney at Prairie State Legal Services. During her tenure there, she diligently represented clients in a wide array of legal proceedings, including motions practice, bench trials, and administrative hearings.

 

Following her tenure at Prairie State Legal Services, Sandra dedicated three years to serving as an assistant public defender in the Kane County Public Defender's office. Subsequently, Sandra joined Camic Johnson, Ltd. in Elgin, where her roles were multifaceted. Not only did she serve as the Elgin office's managing partner, but she also continued to practice law, specializing in criminal defense, family law, probate matters, and administrative hearings.

 

In recognition of her exemplary legal career, Sandra was appointed Associate Judge for Kane County in 2017. Her continued service on the bench, where she is presently assigned to juvenile court, underscores her commitment to upholding the law and serving the citizens of Kane County.

 

Sandra's contributions to the judiciary have not gone unnoticed. She has consistently received ratings of "Recommended" from the Illinois State Bar Association and Kane County Bar Association. Her unwavering dedication to the pursuit of justice and her wealth of legal experience make her a respected figure in the community.
